In the novel, embarrassing items like past shoe production statistics were dropped into a small chute that led to a huge incinerator. In modern times all it takes is a few strokes on a computer to make history change or disappear.

But it's the same thing and you'd think any literate Administration official would know that he really can't get away with it.
